Tour Guide

I've been a meteorology student both privately and in educational institutions my whole life. I've been a storm chaser for coming up on 14 years (since 1995) and have been a part of several great weather related business ventures.

I started out writing weather software in 1996 as a senior in High School. I wrote programs called AlertMe, APRWeather, WarnMe, StormGuide, AlertMe Pro and my newest baby… F5 (software) and F5Data (data feed). The latest venture, F5, is the most robust weather software I’ve written to date. It depends on server prepared data to ingest and displays forecast model data unlike anything else out there today. It has the ability to draw maps of over 160 different meteorological parameters in either contoured map form or in forecast soundings. It also will give it to you driven from different model types and with more forecast hour intervals… IE every 3 hours vs every 6 hours. For storm chasing, it includes my ‘APRWX’ suite of products which include a severe weather index and tornado index to help pinpoint targets.

I have an education from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, MN. I attended off and on for 4 years in their Meteorology program. I did not complete my degree however, as I decided to focus on my business.

I remain an avid storm chaser, student of meteorology, and even a contract storm chaser for the local ABC affiliate in Minneapolis (KSTP) which I have been doing since 2005. I recall an instance in 2006 when I was on the air by phone following a large tornado in southern Minnesota, and asked by the on air meteorologist if I had anything else to say about the tornado before they let me go. I said yes… if I was in the little town of Kasota, MN I’d be pretty worried right now. At that point they zoomed in on their radar to try to find the city and started mentioning it. It turned out that a few minutes later the tornado hit Kasota and killed an elderly man. Maybe others would have gotten killed if we didn’t mention it, maybe not, but at least we got the word out the best we could. That was one time where I truly felt like I did some good storm chasing, and that what we’re doing has some worth. I look forward to working with the media in the future.

Last spring I got engaged to a beautiful woman at the Grand Canyon. I'm madly in love with her and we are planning our wedding for September 27, 2008.
